Leadership is central to the mission of East Carolina University. The institution is one of 25 U.S. colleges and universities – and the only North Carolina institution – to receive the first Carnegie Leadership for Public Purpose classification.

Our Mandate
To build leadership into every discipline of the University and to graduate life-long leaders that reflect on the University as a leadership enabler.
Our Center’s Strategies:
- Be purposeful with our leadership plans and funding by encouraging leadership program disciplines across the university.
- Encourage multiple paths to leadership development and sharing of best practices across ECU.
- Fund projects that can show how they will make a difference and impact.
- Encourage projects that are focused on student leadership and campus wide collaboration.
- Have active engagement with the Center’s Project Participants by the TLC Director and Staff.
- Encourage and facilitate sharing of success stories and elimination of barriers.
- Encourage participation by students and faculty in activities that demonstrate leadership in the campus and community.
- Award and celebrate excellence in leadership as demonstrated by the Center’s project participants.
